Abstract:

A review of Instruments of Occupation, an exhibition at the National Archives of Finland, curated by Dan Dubowitz, Tuomas Toivonen, and Markus Lähteenmäki, 7, 15, 21, and 28 June 2023. This multimedia exhibit in the crypt underneath the Finnish National Archives, staged in concert with the European Architectural History Network “States in Between: Empire and Architecture in East Europe and North Eurasia” conference, made possible an immersive encounter with the “accidental monuments” of Russian imperial occupation and control on the archipelago off Helsinki.
