Biography/Description of Research:

Mr. Press has been an executive with community and faith-based hospitals and healthcare systems. He is a founding partner of Morgan Healthcare Consulting, serving from from its inception in 1999 until 2009, when he became COO for a hospital and its physician practices. He returned to MHC in 2014, at which time (until 2016) he helped launch HemeXcel Resources, LLC, a coast-to-coast network of leading blood centers that supply approximately one fourth of the US blood supply, as its principal executive officer. His professional experience spans operations, facility design and construction, performance improvement, mergers, marketing, and strategic planning.

Accomplishments include: increasing EBIDA and overseeing a major shift in inpatient to outpatient volume; leading the organization to learn several quality designations; development of a “bundled price” obstetrical services product; implementing one of the nation’s first hospitalist programs; reprogramming and reconstructing an emergency department subsequently featured in World Architecture magazine; implementing service line and quality improvement (“lean”) systems, including “management for daily improvement”; helping a global life sciences firm identify product and market opportunities; executive sponsorship of a $100 million hospital campus redevelopment plan; helping a major metropolitan hospital become the national leader in obstetric volume and the state leader in surgical volume, and; development of many strategic plans.

His community and charitable services support includes: City of Dunwoody Construction Board of Adjustments, Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Parish School, the March of Dimes, Lutheran Camp Association, Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, The Community Foundation, Rotary, the Boy Scouts of America, and United Way. Professionally, he served: as vice chairman of the Ohio legislature’s Study Committee on the Future of Public Health; on the faculties of The Estes Park Institute, The Healthcare Roundtable, and American College of Healthcare Executives Congress on Healthcare Administration, and; on the Editorial Board of Frontiers of Health Services Management. He teaches master’s degree students as adjunct Assistant Professor with Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and instructor with Emory’s Goizueta Business School. He has been a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1990. He is listed in Who’s Who in Healthcare and Medicine, and Who’s Who in America.

A native of Cincinnati, he earned an MBA summa cum laude in Finance and Marketing from the University of Cincinnati where he was the Val E. Boeh Outstanding Graduate Student in Finance. He earned a BBA summa cum laude in Business Economics from Ohio University, where he was elected to Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
