There are two options for submitting works to OpenEmory.
- Option 1: Deposit directly to OpenEmory
- Login to upload your material.
- Option 2: Send us your CV for review, and we'll deposit for you
Option 1: Deposit via OpenEmory
There are four steps to submitting your work to OpenEmory:
- Make sure your work is eligible to be in OpenEmory
- At this time, OpenEmory accepts Emory faculty authored scholarly articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, presentations, posters, reports, and working papers.
- If you have another type of content, please contact us at openemory@listserv.cc.emory.edu. We would appreciate feedback on other types of works faculty would like to deposit in OpenEmory.
- Address copyright
- If your work is published, the author agreement or similar copyright transfer agreement you signed will determine if you have the right to deposit in OpenEmory. If you don't have the author agreement on hand and the work you'd like to deposit is a journal article, you can check the SHERPA/RoMEO database for journal publishers' policies on depositing in an institutional repository like OpenEmory. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us and we will do the copyright investigation for you. Points to consider:
- Before you sign an author agreement, consider asking for the right to deposit in an institutional repository like OpenEmory. More information is available in Author Rights, or you may contact us at openemory@listserv.cc.emory.edu.
- If the publisher asks for an embargo, or delay, of the release of the work to the public, you can set the delay period in OpenEmory or Emory FIRST.
- If your work is not published, and you have not signed an author agreement or transfer of copyright, you still possess all the copyrights associated with the work.
- Check your version
- You should submit whichever version of the work you have rights to share under your author agreement. For definitions of the different versions, see our Deposit Advice page.
- Deposit your work
- Login to OpenEmory.
- From the Dashboard, click "Upload New Document".
- Agree to the "Assent to deposit" license.
- Upload the appropriate version of the work.
- Fill out the required metadata for your work. For more information, see our Deposit Instructions.
- Specify the embargo period, if applicable.
- Complete the submission by clicking "Submit."
Option 2: Send us your CV for review, and we'll deposit for you.
Email your current CV or a list of your published and forthcoming works to openemory@listserv.cc.emory.edu.
For each article listed on your CV, we will review publisher policies to determine:
- If your article may be submitted to OpenEmory and
- If so, which version of the article may be uploaded (final published version, author's final manuscript, or original manuscript).
For other types of scholarship, such as book chapters or presentations, see our
Deposit Advice page.
You may then give us permission to deposit on your behalf by sending us a signed copy of the OpenEmory Assistance Authorization Agreement. For works limited to your original manuscript or final manuscript, you will need to supply the appropriate version for us to upload.
