Abstract
  • Mentorship plays a key role in advancing the professional and personal development and research productivity of trainees and early career faculty. Often, underrepresented minority (URM) trainees face the added challenge of finding the right mentors due to the limited pool of diverse mentors, a lack of role models, and training in an inclusive academic environment. Facilitated peer mentorship creates a structure whereby an experienced faculty member or a senior mentor augments peer-to-peer mentoring of mentees with mutual interests in a collaborative academic environment.
